Stay away from power lines: Assume all lines are energized and stay 35 feet away, according to CenterPoint. Never spray a sparking or burning wire with water and never try to remove a tree limb or other item. If you see a downed power line, call CenterPoint Energy at 713-207-2222.

FEMA Relief: If you had property damaged in recent storms across Southeast Texas, you can begin applying for FEMA relief. You can go online to DisasterAssistance.gov or download the FEMA App. You can also call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362.

Call 311: If you notice debris on the road or other road hazards, call 311. Only call 911 for life-threatening situations.

* WHAT…Heat index values up to 105 degrees expected.

* WHERE…Portions of south central and southeast Texas.

* WHEN…Until 8 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS…Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Hurricane Beryl has left millions without power and without access to proper cooling. Residents without power should be mindful of the heat and take precautions now.
